I am a 41 years old software engineer living in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

My professional activities

    Area of my expertise is development of the software components for manufacturing purposes (or manufacturing applications). I develop software for CAD (Computer Aided Design), CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing), CAPE (Computer Aided Production Engineering) and VR (Virtual Reality).
    It involves such area of manufacturing as: CNC, Robotics, CMM, human ergonomic, flexible manufacturing systems, etc. If you have a CAD/CAM or VR product in which you want to incorporate different manufacturing functionality -- I am your man.
    Believe me, it is an exiting job. I am already 18 years in the business and still am not bored. In addition to the expertise in software, operating systems, computer graphics, user interface it requires expertise in kinematic, dynamic, technology of machinery, CNC, Robotics, CMM and other areas. I addition the development can involve such things as communication, Web development and so on.
    Majority of the development was in Unix, but now it is more and more Win NT/95. I know Unix pretty well, but I had to switch to Windows, because a lot of my clients wanted it.
    I am consulting software companies, hardware manufacturers, automotive companies, system integrators.

    Another area of my professional interest is development is interpretive languages, I develop macro language interfaces for different manufacturing products (based on the standard interpretive languages like TCL, VB, JAVA, etc.).

    The third major area of my expertise is fast prototyping. Sometimes you want to develop a prototype of an application in order to be able to demonstrate it to your future client. You want to it to look, like a real product and to behave like a real product, but you do not want to spend a lot of time (and money) on the development of the product. I have developed a methodology how to do it in a short time. I am able to create a skeleton of the product and you (or your marketing people) will be able to modify it in a short time. It does not require any knowledge of programming. In a matter of fact you can create prototypes which will behave differently for different situations.
